Angel Bean Named Big Sky Player of the Week

Bean posted a 3-0 record last week to lead the Cats to wins over Marquette and North Dakota
FARMINGTON, Utah --- Montana State women's tennis player Angel Bean was named Big Sky Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Bobcats to a 2-0 start to the dual match season.
The award marks Bean's second career Big Sky weekly honor and the Bobcats' first of the 2025-26 season.
Bean earned a pair of singles victories and a doubles win to lift Montana State to a pair of victories to open its dual match season. Playing at No. 3 singles, Bean earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Marquette's Maria Poon on Jan. 17 to help the Cats earn a 6-1 team victory. In the Cats' Jan. 18 match at North Dakota, she clinched the doubles point alongside Nia Gelashvili from court two, defeating Alva Norberg and Linn Svaerd, 6-2. She then provided the clincher in singles play, defeating Norberg, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, on court three to lift the Cats to a 4-3 win. Bean went undefeated in each of her matches over the weekend and is 2-0 in singles play and 1-0 in doubles play to start the dual match season.
The Bobcats will continue their season-opening road swing with two matches in Colorado this week, facing the University of Colorado in Boulder on Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. and Colorado State in Fort Collins on Jan. 25 at 12:30 p.m.
