
Skiers Earn College Sports Communicators Academic Honors

Earning Academic All-District® At-Large kudos for the Bobcats are Kristiane Bekkestad, Gianluca Böhm, Kate Oldham, and Florian Winker.
Four Montana State ski standouts were named to the 2024 Academic All-District® At-Large teams, as selected by College Sports Communicators to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom on Tuesday.
Earning Academic All-District® At-Large kudos for the Bobcats are Kristiane Bekkestad, Gianluca Böhm, Kate Oldham, and Florian Winker.
The at-large honorees are selected from skiing, beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, men's volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for CSC academic team consideration student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 grade-point average; be at least a sophomore academically and athletically; and played a significant role on their squad during the 2023-24 season.
Bekkestad, a senior who graduated with a 3.81 GPA in film and photography was a Second Team All-America performer after placing seventh in slalom at the 2024 NCAA Skiing Championships in Colorado. She also garnered Second Team All-America recognition in giant slalom by virtue of a tenth-place finish. On the season, Bekkestad had six top 10 finishes and helped the Bobcats to a fifth place showing at the NCAAs. The product of Aal, Norway recorded five All-America honors during her tenure with the Bobcats and was a four-time United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association academic selection.
Böhm, who finished his sophomore year in civil engineering with 3.84 GPA, recorded seven top 10 finishes on the season, four top five showings, including three podium appearances, and won Westminster Invitational giant slalom title. The native of Samedan, Switzerland was a 2024 Second Team All-American after placing seventh in giant slalom at NCAA Championships, while also earning Second Team All-America kudos after placing ninth in slalom. Böhm led Montana State to fifth place at NCAA Championships. As a freshman, he was a Second Team All-America performer after placing eighth in slalom at NCAA Skiing Championships. Böhm finished second in 2023 at NCAA West Regional/Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Associations Championships in slalom. He has recorded 17 career top 10s and is a two-time USCSCA All-Academic selection
Oldham finished her junior season with a 4.00 GPA in liberal studies. This season she placed fifth at the NCAA Skiing Championships in the 7.5k freestyle earning First Team All-America honors. She also placed 11th in the 20k classic. The Carbondale, Colo., product won the NCAA West Region/RMISA 7.5k freestyle title and was runner-up in 20k classic. On the season, Oldham had five top five finishes, three podiums and eight top 10s. She is a two-time USCSCA All-Academic selection.
Winker, a graduate student in mechanical engineering with a 3.87 GPA garnered 2024 Second Team All-America kudos after placing ninth in the 20k classic at the NCAA Championships. The native of Spaichingen, Germany recorded seven top 10 finishes during the RMISA season. Winker also earned 2024 USCSCA all-academic honors.
Bekkestad, Böhm, and Oldham were also selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists. NCAA and NAIA Men's and Women's At-Large Academic All-America® First-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced mid-July.
