Bobcats Win Streak Snapped in Pocatello

“It was really fun and exciting to see us win the doubles point,” said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. “We have been focusing hard on our doubles play and watching it come to fruition was awesome.”
Idaho State captured wins at the top four singles spots in tightly contested matches to post a 4-3 win over Montana State, snapping MSU's four-match win streak on Friday afternoon in Reed Gym.
Montana State (10-5, 1-3) opened the contest taking all three doubles matches, securing an early 1-0 advantage. The point was clinched at No. 3 as Felicia Jayasaputra and Jazmin Lerman combined for a 6-2 decision over Megan Lang-Gould and Stefanya Shalakhova.
MSU's top duo of Marta Garcia-Reboredo and Hudson Hawkins claimed a 7-6 win, taking the tiebreaker 10-8 from sisters Lola and Sol O'Lideadha. The Bobcat tandem has won seven of its last eight outings.

Idaho State's (9-5, 3-1) Lola O'Lideadha put the Bengals on the scoreboard with a three-set win over MSU freshman Paula Dougherty, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Garcia-Reboredo saw her seven-match win streak snapped at No. 1 as Hana Cho notched a 6-4, 7-5 victory. Sol O'Lideadha notched a 7-6(2), 6-4 decision over Bozeman product Meg McCarty at No. 3, giving ISU a 3-1 advantage. Shalakhova clinched the win for the Bengals at No. 4, holding on for a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 win over Lerman.
MSU took Nos. 5 and 6 singles behind the efforts of freshmen Bean and Hawkins.
"Although we didn't get the win, we are extremely proud of our efforts," Woodburn said. "This was our best conference competition this season.
"It was great to see Hudson (Hawkins) and Angel (Bean) close out tough matches," she added. "With four freshmen in the starting lineup we are growing and learning every time we hit the court."
Montana State hosts Northern Arizona, Friday, April 5 at 10 a.m., and Sacramento State on Sunday, April 7 at 9 a.m. in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. MSU closes out the regular season with four consecutive home matches.
