“(Jordan) Radick had a heck of a match,” said MSU head coach Matt Houk.
Montana State middle blocker Jordan Radick matched a career-high 15 kills, but it wasn't enough as Sacramento State posted a 28-26, 23-25, 25-17, 25-16 win over the Bobcats on Saturday night in Shroyer Gym.
Sacramento State (17-10, 10-4) fought off four set points in the opening frame and used a late 8-2 run to capture the opening set. Montana State (8-18, 6-9) built a 22-20 lead in the second set on a Radick kill and held on for the win following a Hornet hitting error.
Sets three and four were all Sacramento State as the Hornets outhit the Bobcats .309 to .080 for the win.
"(Jordan) Radick had a heck of a match," said MSU head coach Matt Houk. "We worked hard the last couple days of trying to get some more stuff going with the quick attackers and that's something we need down the stretch to have a chance we're hoping to have.
"We can be as good as anybody at any given time, but we've got to get off the roller coaster at some point," Houk added. "We need to sustain a high level of play, that's what good teams do."
Also, in double figure kills for MSU was Jourdain Kamps with 13 kills. Radick and Kamps paced the Bobcats at the net with a team best five blocks apiece, while libero Lauren Lindseth anchored the backrow with a match-high 24 digs. Audrey Hofer and Madilyn Siebler also reached double digits with 12 saves, each.
Sacramento State was led by Caitlin Volkman with 19 kills and 14 digs.
Montana State closes out its regular season slate hosting Montana, Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
