Bobcat defensive end among college football's elite student-athletes
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State defensive end Brody Grebe became Montana State's 14th First Team Academic All-America, the College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.
A junior from Melstone, Montana, Grebe joins 26 other players on the Division I CSC Academic All-America First Team, which includes student-athletes from both the Bowl Subdivision and the Championship Subdivision. Grebe earned All-America and First Team All-Big Sky honors in 2023 after logging 55 tackles, 13.5 for a loss, with a team-leading 10 sacks. He finished ninth in the FCS and fourth in the Big Sky with 0.83 sacks per game. He enters his senior season as a two-time All-America.
A mechanical engineering major with a 3.94 grade point average in Montana State's elite College of Engineering, Grebe is MSU's 14th First Team Academic All-America, and the fifth in the last decade. Four of those hail from Montana (joining Troy Andersen, Kyle Finch and Tanner Bleskin). He is the only Big Sky Conference first team selection, and one of just four from the FCS. Grebe is one of 175 football student-athletes at all four-year levels of the sport, as voted on by CSC members, and according to that organization those player comprise 0.2% of everyone playing college football. Along with teammates Brendan Hall, Tommy Mellott, Ben Seymour and Marcus Wehr, Grebe was one of 2,269 players representing 482 schools honored as All-District selections. Only 116 colleges or universities produced an Academic All-American.
Grebe also earned FCS Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star honors last month, along with Mellott, and became a finalist for the FCS ADA Post-Graduate Scholarship.
