A letter from Montana State Director of Athletics Leon Costello
Dear Bobcat Fans,
It's hard to believe that tomorrow evening we'll all be back together in Bobcat Stadium for our annual Gold Rush game. I am so grateful to the countless people who have worked tirelessly to support our student-athletes over the past 18 months and have gotten us to this point.
It is also not lost on any of us the importance of tomorrow- the 20thanniversary of September 11. We are so grateful to all who have or continue to serve in one of our military branches and those that selflessly serve our community as first responders. We are excited to commemorate their service with a large field-sized flag during tomorrow's national anthem. Be sure to be in your seats by 5:30pm to join in the pre-game activities, which also includes the return of our 2021 National Championship Women's Rodeo team to lead our football student-athletes onto the field.
In case you missed it, the grand opening of the Bobcat Athletic Complex has been scheduled for Friday, October 8 ahead of our annual Homecoming game on Saturday. This new date still allows our student-athletes to have complete and uninterrupted access to the facility for Gold Rush. The past 18 months have been an unprecedented time for everyone and we want our Bobcat student-athletes and coaches to have every opportunity to focus on their return to the field in Bobcat Stadium. The event on October 8 will begin at 4:00pm and is open to the public. Please join us before you head downtown for the annual Homecoming Pep Rally.
Earlier this week, we announced the on-sale of our annual Blue & Gold Gala. Last year, we held this event virtually and many of you participated from your homes as we generated critical revenue for our scholarship fund. This year, we are thrilled to be back in the Brick to celebrate our love for the Bobcats in person! We need you more than ever this year. Last season, we honored all scholarships for our student-athletes, despite dramatic COVID-related decreases in revenue, making this year's Gala more important than ever. You can click here to purchase your tickets today.
At tomorrow's game, we will be announcing our largest annual giving campaign in Bobcat Athletics history. This campaign will support all student-athlete scholarships and the increasing costs to support their needs at MSU. I encourage you to learn more about the Bobcat Club Annual Scholarship Fund, the support that fund provides all 350+ our student-athletes, and how you can get involved. Please stay tuned for more information.
As you prepare for your trip to Bobcat Stadium tomorrow, I'd like to remind you of a few new and different components of game day:
Tomorrow's Gold Rush game sold out faster than it ever has, a clear indicator of how excited everyone is to be back together. I am so grateful for the support of all Bobcats and can't wait to see many of you tomorrow.
Go Cats!
