A letter from Montana State Director of Athletics Leon Costello
Dear Bobcats,
Happy Homecoming Week! Thank you for an incredible start to the year. I don't think I completely understood how much we missed you at our events until we were able to welcome you back. You continue to prove what is so special about Montana State and Bobcat fans. You are the absolute best! You are showing up in record numbers and creating an environment that is second to none. Thank you for your continued support of MSU student-athletes and coaches.
We are excited to invite everyone to the Bobcat Athletic Complex grand opening on Friday, October 8, at 4 p.m. The ceremony will take place on the plaza in front of the building and an open house will immediately follow. This facility will provide spaces and resources to recruit, develop, and care for student-athletes on their academic and athletic journeys at MSU. This wouldn't be possible without the generous support of more than 525 donors that contributed to this privately funded facility. Please join us on Friday as we celebrate the future of Bobcat Athletics. You can also click here to see a full schedule of the university's Homecoming Week activities, including the annual Pep Rally being held downtown immediately following our grand opening.
Also this month, we host the annual Blue & Gold Gala in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on Friday, October 22. This event is an opportunity to celebrate what it means to be a Bobcat, enjoying a special night with our community while we raise critical scholarship funds for Bobcat student-athletes. You can click here to purchase your tickets and view auctions items.
With another sellout expected in Bobcat Stadium this weekend for Homecoming vs. Cal Poly, I encourage everyone to enter the stadium earlier than normal to avoid long lines. We are on a record pace for tickets sales which means more people enjoying the excitement at our home games than ever before. Come in early and enjoy great concessions options and shop the MSU Bookstore stadium locations. You can click here for our official fan guide, which includes a map of different concessions offerings, reminders on stadium policies, and offers from our corporate partners. Another reason to get in your seats early: our Bobcat rodeo team will be back to lead our football student-athletes onto the field!
Our fall sports are in full swing and they've already provided plenty of great moments. The Montana State volleyball team is in the midst of Big Sky Conference play and has already completed a sweep of Montana to continue to hold possession of the Main Line Trophy and earn points towards the annual Brawl of the Wild competition. Our cross country program held its home meet last month for the first time in two years and both races had Bobcats finishing first place individually. Our men's and women's tennis teams have already participated in several fall events and the MSU golf team's opening tournament play was highlighted by an individual victory by our own Kameryn Basye. We've also enjoyed having our Spirit Squad, along with Champ, back at our home events helping bring the energy to the already extraordinary atmosphere we have built here.
It's hard to believe but basketball season has started and games are right around the corner. Both teams will be vying for conference championships this season and you don't want to miss any of the action in Worthington Arena. Get your men's and women's basketball season tickets here.
We are looking forward to another great weekend on campus and throughout the Bozeman community. Thank you for the support of all our athletic programs and for continuing to make MSU special.
In Bobcat Spirit,
Leon Costello
