Despite victories at the top part of the ladder, the Montana State women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to UTEP on Saturday afternoon.
EL PASO, Texas – Despite victories at the top part of the ladder, the Montana State women's tennis team fell 5-2 to UTEP on Saturday afternoon.
After dropping the opening doubles point, the Miners took a 3-0 advantage with wins at Nos. 3 and 6 singles. Bobcat senior Laura Mary put MSU on the board with a straight set 6-2, 6-2 decision over Vanessa Valdez at the No. 1 slot. UTEP's Thassane Abrahim clinched the match rallying from a 6-0 first set deficit to down JJ Chen 6-4, 6-4 in the final two sets.
Linnea Fristam finished the match with MSU's second point of the day coming from behind to post a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Erandi Martinez. The victory was Fristam's fourth of the season at the No. 2 spot.
Montana State will play at New Mexico State on Sunday morning.
