Welcome to the summer edition of the Letter form the AD. As summer weather has finally hit Montana and we are gearing up the 2019-20 athletic season, I wanted to acknowledge our Bobcat student-student athletes from the 2018-19 season
Dear Bobcats,
Welcome to the summer edition of the Letter from the AD. As summer weather has finally hit Montana and we are gearing up the 2019-20 athletic season, I wanted to acknowledge our Bobcat student-athletes from the 2018-19 season. The 2019 spring semester ended in May with a cumulative student-athlete GPA of 3.18, which is one of the highest on record. An impressive 67% of all Bobcat student-athletes achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher while over 130 were named to Big Sky All-Academic Teams.
We've also had several individuals succeed academically at the national level. Two Bobcats were named Academic All-Americans and Alex Lewis, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President and all-conference athlete, received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. It's tremendous to see the accomplishments by such a talented group of Bobcats.
As we look forward to another exciting academic and athletic season, season tickets for many Bobcat sports are available now. Single game football tickets go on sale August 5. For more information click the links above or call the Bobcat Ticket Office at 406-994-CATS (2287).
The 2019 Bobcat Football season will kick-off in Lubbock, Texas, against Texas Tech. A charter flight for Bobcat fans through Creative Charters is available. Click here for more information on how to board the Bobcat Express.
Recently, we announced an update for Phase One of the Athletics Facilities Masterplan. The Bobcat Athletic Complex and Academic Excellence Center will positively impact and benefit all 350 student-athletes and our entire athletic department. We need your help to complete the funding for this critical project. We are on the "goal line" as we sit just over $1 million away from reaching our $18 million goal. Please consider helping us reach the endzone by donating to the Phase One project HERE or call Casey Fox, Associate AD for External Operations at 406-994-5707 or Nick Anthony, Director of Development at 406-994-2092.
If you have visited Bobcat Stadium in recent days, you may have noticed an update to the East bleachers. We have started and will be finishing some overdue enhancements which will be ready for Gold Rush on Sept. 7. This update will make what is already one of the best settings in FCS football even better.
I am looking forward to several events we'll be hosting over the next month in Bozeman and on campus. First, Bobcat Movie Night is scheduled for the evening of August 6, while Family Fun Day will take place on August 17 at Bobcat Stadium. Both are great events to bring family and friends out to and have a chance to meet Bobcat coaches and student-athletes. The annual MSU Cat Walk in downtown Bozeman will take place August 23. It's always a great time to be able to visit our local businesses and kick-off the new academic and athletic year!
I hope you have the chance to enjoy the remaining summer days as we prepare for an exciting 2019-20 academic and athletic year. We look forward to seeing you on campus for one of our many events.
Go Cats!
