Bobcat Athletics Announces Updates to Administration Staff

Director of Athletics Leon Costello announced the hire of an Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, as well as several administrative title updates within the staff on Thursday
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State Director of Athletics Leon Costello announced the hire of an Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, as well as several administrative title updates within the staff on Thursday, Jan. 31.
Eric Heier joined MSU Athletics as the department's Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in January. In his role at Montana State, Heier's responsibilities include promoting an atmosphere of compliance and implementing systems to help coaches, staff, and student-athletes understand and follow NCAA and Big Sky rules.
Heier graduated from the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2017. He spent time interning with both the Utah and Brigham Young University athletic departments before assuming a full-time Compliance Coordinator role at Utah in July 2017. While earning his law degree, Heier worked extensively with the S.J. Quinney College of Law Pro Bono Initiative, overseeing nine legal clinics designed to provide legal services to underserved communities in the Salt Lake City area. Prior to earning his J.D. from the University of Utah, Heier obtained a bachelor's degree from BYU in 2012.
Bobcat Athletics also made several updates to titles of those currently on staff.
After joining the Bobcat equipment room during the summer of 2018 as the assistant director, Blake Schulte has been moved to the role of Director of Equipment Operations. Schulte is responsible for purchasing, maintaining and issuing all athletic equipment and apparel for teams within Bobcat Athletics.
MSU's senior staff has seen several updates. Camie Bechtold will serve as Senior Associate Athletic Director - Administration, Thijs Goossens as Senior Associate Athletic Director - Business Operations/CFO and Casey Fox as Senior Associate Athletic Director - External Relations. Jamie Rizzuto, who heads MSU Athletics' Academic Services Office, has been elevated from Assistant to Associate Athletic Director.
Cole Moore will continue in his role with the Bobcat football team and has been tabbed as the Assistant Athletic Director - Football Operations.
Montana State's department for Sports Information has been re-classified as MSU Athletics Communications. Bill Lamberty will continue to serve as Assistant Athletic Director – Athletics Communications. Tom Schulz will serve as Director – Athletics Communications. Andrew Pedersen will serve as the Bobcats' Assistant Director – Athletics Communications/Digital Media.
Anne Miller will continue her role on MSU Athletics' Bobcat Club, operating as The Director of Athletic Development/Special Events.

"These titles more accurately reflect the job responsibilities of each and align our organizational structure to accomplish the athletic department goals established in our 5-year strategic plan, Our Heritage Our Future."
