
Montana State Golf Pair Wins CGA Women’s Mashie Championship

Delaney Elliott and Kelly Hooper team up to claim a four-ball match play title in Colorado Wednesday
WESTMINSTER, Colo. – Montana State rising juniors Delaney Elliott and Kelly Hooper teamed up and scored the top honor winning the Championship Flight of the Colorado Golf Association's Women's Mashie Championships on Wednesday, June 6, at Legacy Ridge Golf Course.
Elliott and Hooper competed in the top division of a total of 13 in one of the most popular CGA women's championships of the summer. The Bobcat golfers participated in a four-ball match play tournament over a three-day span, with teams featuring two players playing their ball against the better ball of the other team.
The MSU duo were matched up against University of Wyoming golfers and sisters Kaylee and Megan Knadler in the championship match Wednesday.
Elliott and Hooper took the lead on the second hole and never relinquished it en route to a 2&1 victory over the Cowgirls' pair. The Bobcat teammates went up four strokes on the 11th hole and finished off the round up two strokes with one hole to spare.
The two MSU golfers opened play on Monday with a 6&5 victory over Kathy Malpass and Katherine Moore-Lilly. Elliott and Hooper advanced to the Championship Flight title match by finishing 1-up over Tiffany Maurycy and Holly Schaefer on Tuesday.
Elliott and Hooper completed their sophomore seasons at Montana State this spring. Hooper carded the Bobcats' single-season best scoring average with her 75.37 mark during the 2017-18 slate. Elliott registered a 77.70 scoring average, the 13th best single-season mark in program history, over the course of the 2017-18 schedule.
