Montana State junior Naomi Holopainen posted MSU’s lone point as the Bobcats fell 6-1 to perennial Big Sky Conference power Sacramento State, Sunday morning in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.

Sacramento State opened the match winning the doubles point with victories at Nos. 2 and 3. MSU's top duo of Holopainen and Laura Middel recorded a hard-fought 6-4 decision at the top spot over Jennifer Ong and Ana Loaiza Esquivias. Holopainen and Middel remained perfect in league doubles play improving to a Big Sky best 10-0.
Holopainen finished an outstanding weekend of play notching MSU's lone point in singles play. The Lahti, Finland product recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Ong at No. 2 singles.
"Naomi has been a totally different player the past two weeks," said MSU head coach Jon Reeves. "She's playing with a lot of energy and realizing she can play with anyone in the conference."
Middel, a junior from Hoogezand, Netherlands, held a 4-3 advantage in the third set at No. 1 singles, before Sacramento State's Alina Soltanici rallied to take three straight games.
Montana State will host Eastern Washington on Friday at 3 p.m.
