Bobcat Netmen Top UNC for First Win of Season

MSU also logs first league match
Javier Martin-Morillas and Kellen Bates each recorded weekend singles sweeps to lead Montana State to a 5-2 win over Northern Colorado in Greeley on Sunday. The win was the first Big Sky match for both teams.
The win, MSU's first of the season, came on the strength of four wins in singles matches and the squad's first doubles point of 2015. Bates and Harry James, and Andre Napoliatano and Dylan Harvala, each registered doubles wins. James got MSU on the board with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles, and Martin-Morillas recorded a 7-6, 6-3 win. The Bobcats clinched the match with Bates' 6-3, 6-4 victory, and Niklas Brandes earned a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 2.
"We played much better today," said Bobcat coach Jared Burnham. "Javy really had a terrific weekend, and Kellen (Bates) is playing well. We got off to a good start with the doubles point."
The win came on the heels of Saturday's 5-2 loss at Air Force. Martin-Morillas and Bates each logged singles wins over the Falcons.
The Bobcats play at Portland State and Seattle next weekend.
