MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS
Montana State women's cross country team finished the 5,000-meter Big Sky Conference Championship race in Cedar City, Utah in fifth place, while the men placed seventh. The women totaled 202 points and the men 140.
"Rachel Atwood had a spectacular race to finish out her Big Sky Conference cross country career," head coach Lyle Weese said. "The women had a solid race, but the field was very strong. The men struggled a little bit, but this young team will rebound quickly."
Senior Rachel Atwood led the women's team, finishing in 20th place with a time of 1:17.2. As a team, MSU's four fastest times crossed the finish line within 15 seconds of eachother. Freshman Alyssa Snyder finished in 19:06.3 (23rd place) and Kaylee Schmitz completed the course just behind her in 19:07.1 (24th place). Chiana Warner and Jenette Northey also scored for MSU, placing 31st (19:18.8) and 42nd (19:40.5).
Diego Leon had the best finish for the men's team, placing 18th in 26:33.9. Completing the course in 27:15.0, Ty Mogan finished 41st, while Ethan Wilhelm placed 44th in 27:25.2. Matthew Gotta finished in 46th place (27:25.9) and Brock Sandry crossed the finish line in 28:06.8 (58th place).
Southern Utah's men took the first two spots in the individual competition, with Hayden Hawks running a 24:56.6 pace. The Thunderbirds top five runners all finished in the top 10 to win the Big Sky Conference title, scoring only 26 points. On the women's side, Weber State took the crown with all five runners placing in the top 15 (39 points). Makena Morley of Montana was named the individual champion with a time of 17:45.9.
Montana State will compete at the Mountain Region Championships in Albuquerque, NM on November 13th.
