Montana beats MSU 28-14 in Bozeman
Montana outscored Montana State 21-7 after halftime, and topped the Bobcats 28-14 in Bozeman on Saturday.
The loss ends MSU's season at 7-5. Montana raised its record to 10-2, and likely advances to the FCS Playoffs next week.
Jordan Johnson completed 23 of his 35 pass attempts for 250 yards and one touchdown Saturday to lead Montana, and the Grizzlies rushed for 115 yards. The Bobcats suffered two key turnovers, fumbles lost by DeNarius McGhee and Cody Kirk, the latter of which set up a fourth-quarter touchdown.
McGhee threw for 160 yards and rushed for 57 in the final game of his legendary Bobcat career. MSU gained just 89 yards in the first half, but the offense moved more effectively in the second half, gaining nearly 200 yards.
Senior linebacker Brock Coyle paced UM on defense, logging 12 tackles and forcing a pair of fumbles. Sean Gords had a career-high 10 tackles in his final game as a Bobcat senior, while Brad Daly blocked a punt and registered seven tackles, one for a loss.
