Freshman Paulina Lopez rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the opening set at No. 2 singles to post a 7-6, 6-1 win over Idaho State’s Rilee Moorhead and secure a 5-2 victory for the Bobcats over the Bengals, Friday night in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.

Freshman Paulina Lopez rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the opening set at No. 2 singles to post a 7-6, 6-1 win over Idaho State's Rilee Moorhead and secure a 5-2 victory for the Bobcats over the Bengals, Friday night in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.

Trailing by three games, Lopez rattled off a 5-1 run to tie the set at six-all. The Naucalpan, Mexico native pulled away from a two-all score in the tiebreaker with three straight points and won the set 7-4. Lopez cruised in the second stanza winning 6-1.

Montana State (7-9, 4-2) opened the match sweeping all three doubles spots to take a 1-0 lead at the break.

Freshman Ellie Crum quickly put MSU up 2-0 with a straight set win at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Charlotta Hjalmarsson followed with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Katharina Marsela to setup up Lopez' match-clinching win.

“We were certainly a much different team than what we showed on Tuesday,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht, referring to its 6-1 loss to Montana. “We got off to a good start with doubles, and that was followed by strong play from three of our top four positions.”

Sophomore Lucy Fairbotham closed out MSU's scoring with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles over Rachel Ryan.

MSU will host Weber State and Northern next weekend in the BATC.
