The Montana State women's tennis team dropped its Big Sky Conference opener, 6-1, to Northern Arizona, Friday afternoon at the Flagstaff Athletic Club East.
Northern Arizona (3-2, 1-0) won the opening doubles sweeping all three matches, and then took five of six singles matches for the victory.
Montana State (2-5, 0-1) received its only point of the match at No. 3 singles, where freshman Charlotta Hjalmarsson posted a 7-6 (11-9), 6-2 win over Aimee Oki.
“I thought we competed hard,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “Charlotta really stepped-up and did a super job. NAU is a difficult place to play, and I thought that on the whole, we handled the adversity very well.”
