Lance Deal Track and Field Lance Deal is currently recognized as one of the world’s premiere track and field athletes, having established himself as the top American hammer thrower and indoor weight thrower. A native of Casper, Wyoming, Deal earned All-America honors in the discus in 1984, and was also a two-time Big Sky Champion in both the sho put and the discus. Since leaving Montana State, Deal has set the American record in the hammer throw and the world record in the indoor weight throw. He was a member of the 1988 and 1992 U.S. Olympic Teams, and has represented the United States in several world championship events.
