Gene Bourdet Football Player, Athletics Director Gene Bourdet was quarterback on the 1946 Harbor Bowl team, Montana State’s first football bowl squad, and after a successful coaching career became the school’s full-time director of athletics. Bourdet served in that capacity for 1959 to 1970, instituting many innovative programs and establishing a vision for the school’s athletic program that remains decades later. Bourdet helped lead MSU to the Big Sky All-Sports Trophy in 1965 and 1967. The Hollister, California, native also served as Athletics Director at Fresno State University.
