The Golden Bobcats- 1928-1929- National Champions
1928-29 collegiate national champions (36-2)…voted the top team in the first half century. Considered as one of the top teams in the history of college basketball…Finished 36-2 in the 1928-29 season and won the national title…Had three All-America picks in Breeden, Thompson and Frank Ward…Voted by the Helms Foundation as the nation’s top team in the first half century (1900-50)…Players were recruited by G. Ott Romney and coached by Schubert Dyche…They were the first team to use the modern style of play, the fast break offense and pressure defense.
