MSU pays tribute to an outstanding 2012 football season this weekend
While the Bobcat basketball team faces a crucial home weekend on Thursday and Saturday, Montana State will take a moment to honor its football program.
Bobcat Athletics recognizes recipients of major individual awards at halftime of Thursday's key matchup against league-leading Weber State. The school's first-ever Buck Buchanan Award winner, Caleb Schreibeis, and 2012 Big Sky Offensive MVP DeNarius McGhee will each be on hand, while conference defensive MVP Jody Owens will also be honored. That trio, along with three other First Team All-Big Sky selections and Academic All-America Tanner Bleskin, forms the heart of perhaps the most decorated group of post-season honorees in school history.
At halftime of Saturday's crucial conference contest against Idaho State, MSU honors its third consecutive Big Sky Conference championship team. The Bobcats finished 2012 with an 11-2 record, the most wins in season since the 1984 National Championship season, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA FCS Playoffs for the second straight season. The team's championship banner will be unveiled Saturday, and the Great Divide Trophy for beating Montana will be displayed.
Both games begin at 7:05 pm.
